State of the art
Kimtec produces a rumen protected linseed oil for ruminants. Universities have proven that linseed oil has a positive effect on fertility and increases the percentage of unsaturated fat in the milk. Unfortunately the (poly)-unsaturated fats in linseed are quickly hydrogenated (saturated) and hydrolysed in the rumen. The disadvantage is that only a fraction will arrive in the intestine unsaturated. Some have tried to solve this problem by feeding large amounts of crushed linseed. This has a dramatic effect on the fibre fermentation in the rumen (decrease of DMI). Kimtec’s product bypasses the rumen intact and therefore delivers a large amount of unsaturated fat in the intestine.
